Goodway Nursery School was constructed as a Day Nursery for 0-8 year olds in 1939 to enable essential war work to be carried out by mothers. It became a Local Education Nursery School in 1948.

Our mission statement is :
The school strives to create a stimulating, happy and secure environment which will promote the learning process for all.

     Our first priority is to help children feel happy and secure in the nursery school. For many children, this will be their first experience of being away from home and family. The development of good relationships with other children and adults is of prime importance.

     The curriculum is child centred and play based as is appropriate for the age group. The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum Areas of Learning are developed both indoors and outdoors. See “curriculum” for more details.
     Pupils are encouraged to be actively involved in their own learning – often making decisions about projects and activities. A “free flow” system operates in order to enable children to make choices.

     All staff are dedicated practitioners committed to offering/ developing quality teaching and learning experiences for pupils. All members of staff are qualified – either having teaching degrees or Teaching Assistant NVQ Level 3 or a Foundation Degree.. Members of staff continue to enhance their professional development by embarking on a range of training and research.
